NAMM Names Cosmo Music as 2019 Dealer of the Year

Richmond Hill, ON MI megastore Cosmo Music was honoured as NAMM's Dealer of the Year during a special reception on July 19th as part of Summer NAMM 2019.

The industry gathered at the Top 100 Dealer Awards presentation during the show, which ran July 18-20 in Nashville, to applaud the accomplishments, excellence, and innovations of music retailers from around the world and honour their contributions to their local communities.

“It’s not just me, it’s my team. I have an amazing team of over 200 employees and they made this happen – they are unbelievable people,” said Cosmo Music President and CEO Mark Hebert when accepting the award.

Asked what his advice was for others who aspire to be Dealer of the Year, Hebert offered: “Something that I’ve learned over the years is that it’s not really about me or my store; it’s about the industry – to increase the amount of music makers, to be inspired, and to grow our market.”

As Dealer of the Year, Cosmo was the only Canadian retailer to win one of the "Best Of" categories despite two others - Oakville, ON's Merriam Music and B.C.'s Wentworth Music - also appearing on the 2019 Top 100 Dealers list.

To determine the “Best of” category winners, a panel of independent judges reviewed and made selections from the Top 100 finalists. Each finalist was evaluated for effectiveness in marketing, customer engagement and innovation in retail. The event’s new “Top 100 Customers’ Choice Award” was determined by an online popular vote customers and fans.

Country Music Television (CMT) personality Katie Cook hosted the evening, which featured a performance by American Idol winner Danny Gokey.

The 2019 Summer NAMM Show, held at Nashville’s Music City Center from July 18-20, united together thousands of buyers, exhibitors, and music industry professionals to preview the latest music products, gain insights through a robust professional development program, and network with peers.
