IMSTA FESTA Toronto Unveils Full Educational Program

13-imsta-festa-toIMSTA FESTA Toronto, which will be held for free at Ryerson University next Saturday, Oct. 15, has announced its fulls schedule of educational panels and masterclasses. The show opens at 10:30 a.m. with a breakfast before exhibits open at 11 a.m. The educational program will begin at noon with a keynote Q&A with Toronto-based Grammy-winning producer Boi-ida (Drake, Eminem, Jay Z, etc.).

The full educational schedule is:

12 noon – Keynote: Boi-1da

Boi-1da is undoubtedly one of Canada’s most sought after producers for the 21st century. His sure-fire talent and proven ability to create hits has led him to the top of the ranks in an industry where nothing is guaranteed.

2 p.m. – Gimme The Money…

How to get funding for yourself, your band, your company or your organization. The newly elected Liberal Government has pledged billions of dollar in financial support for the Canadian Arts and Entertainment industries. Make sure you get your share.

3 p.m. – Songwriting & Composing For Film and Television

This seasoned group of producers, songwriters, composers and directors will open the floor to questions in this ‘Townhall’ style panel, focusing on the creative and technical aspects of songwriting and composing for film and television.

4 p.m. – Beyond the Presets: Making Synths Sounds Your Own

Strategies for making synths sounds your own with Tim Tickner, Bulent Biyikoglu, and Assaf Dar Sagol

5 p.m. – Cooking Beats

This interactive producer master class will be modelled after a live reality TV cooking show! But instead of cooking food, we will be Cooking Beats! Our panelists, some of Canada’s most talented up-and-coming beatmakers will be using special ingredients and tools to show the IMSTA audience how to make a killer beat. Whether you are an aspiring beatmaker or an industry professional who has always wondered how beats are made, this Master Class will pull back the curtain and show you why Toronto beatmakers are among the best in the World. Ever wonder where ideas for beats come from? How do you create a beat and what software can you use? What are the stages and growth of the beat? How do you use and recreate samples? Once you have a finished beta, how do you shop it? How do top-liners write over the beat? All of these questions will be answered!
