Award winning jazz guitarist Reg Schwager , joined by drummer Steve Farrugia and bass player Wesley Allen provided the live music for the guests.
“Being in this business as a drummer, teacher, and a salesman for 30 years has taught me one thing,” said the owner of Drummer’s Hangout, Murat Baslamisli, “you do this for the love and the passion you have for the craft and the instruments that enable you to develop that craft. If you have other motivations, well, there may or may not be some disappointments in your future.”
Drummer’s Hangout is a full service pro drum shop that will provide sales, repairs and rentals to customers and the professional teaching staff is already providing lessons to every age group and level of students on location.
“I am grateful for all my suppliers who were behind this project since day one,” said Murat, who spent the last 15 years selling drums and percussion instruments for a big retail chain store. “They saw the possibility, maybe even the need, for an independent drum shop in this area. Now, I am not here to milk the ‘shop local’ movement or anything. If I am good enough and I provide you with better service than the next guy, then I deserve your business. If not, I do not. It is simple. So far, the response from the community has been way beyond my expectations.”
Drummer’s Hangout is open seven days a week and is located at 15483 Yonge St. in Aurora, Ontario. You can find them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/drummershangout.
